Barcelona-Bound Lewandowski Bids Bayern Munich Farewell

Robert Lewandowski was at Bayern Munich training on Saturday to say his goodbyes to his teammates ahead of his expected move to Barcelona.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of the reigning FIFA Men's footballer of the year.

The 33-year-old communicated his intentions to leave Bavaria to the Bayern Munich hierarchy at the end of the 2021/2022 season, during which he scored 50 goals across all competitions.

Lewandowski still had one year left on his contract but was eager to seek a new challenge in Spain.

Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer in the summer of 2014 and has won eight Bundesliga titles in his time at the club.

The Poland international's list of honours at the Allianz Arena also include one UEFA Champions League, three DFB-Pokals, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.

"I will come back and say goodbye to all the employees properly. I didn't have much time to prepare for it now," Lewandowski told Germany's Sky Sports News.

"These eight years were special and you don't forget that. I had a great time in Munich. I will fly soon. But after the training camp I will come again and say goodbye properly and organise a few things.

"I said goodbye to the guys on the pitch today. I wasn't worried about an injury in training. Something can happen to me at home. I wanted to keep fit and so I trained with the boys again."
